online foraging and wild food workshop - june - summer

Summer is finally here. Get a head start on your foraging season and walk the wild food trail.

Want to find wild food in your local patch? Join our monthly workshops online, with James & Lea from Woodland Classroom. Enjoy finding, harvesting and cooking with wild food every month during our online workshops.

June is the month of the elderflower, one of the best wild foods the whole year has to offer and there’s so much we can do with it. Sitting with a glass of elderflower champagne on a warm summer evening has to be one of life’s simple pleasures for the forager. There’s plenty more than just elderflowers though and we will share the best of the season with you and how to make the most of it. We’re also excited to be welcoming our Special Guest Speaker for this month; Andy Hamilton, author of Booze For Free and Fermenting Everything. Andy will be sharing his vast experience with advice on how to get started in wild brewing and his top summer drink recipes.

Our online foraging workshops have been a smash hit, as people want to learn how to make tasty, healthy food from the wild plants around them.

A ticket costs just £7. These events are selling quickly, so grab your place whilst you can 🙂 Everyone has loved these workshops so far and they’ve been really popular.

YOUR WORKSHOP INCLUDES:

* Seasonal Foraging Tips for Early Summer

* How To Make Elderflower Champagne

* Wild Food Recipes

* Getting Creative with Dandelion Flowers

* Special Guest Speaker: Andy Hamilton, author or Booze For Free

* Q&A Session

With our workshops you can learn at your own pace. Join just one workshop or join us every month, you decide. There’s no commitment from you to attend every month.

Did you know that YOU can be part of the workshop too. We’re inviting all our online students to chime in with their foraging experiences during lockdown, recipe successes and failures, and any tips you have yourself to share with the class. We would love to hear from you. So, if you have something you want to share, send us an email at hey@woodlandclassroom.com We might even ask you to showcase your creation for the rest of the class as a guest speaker.

Your wild food workshop will last 1hr 15 mins and will be hosted via Zoom. Following the session there will be extra time for an open Q&A with your hosts and guest speaker. Once you book into the workshop an email will be sent you a few days before the event with details of how to access the webinar on Zoom.

HOW TO BOOK – VERY IMPORTANT!

The cost is £7, this is not per person though, only per household. So feel free to cram as many family members around the screen as you can 🙂

Once you have your ticket, we will follow up with an email for you which includes the Zoom meeting link and entry password. This will be a couple of days before the event. So, look out for that.

Please note, tickets are non-refundable.

THIS MONTH’S SPECIAL GUEST

We will be welcoming Andy Hamilton, who describes himself as an “author and wild gentleman.” He is the bestselling author of Booze For Free and the multi award winning Brewing Britain and Fermenting Everything.  Andy is also known for his wild food knowledge and has popped up on TV and radio a few times as a result. Your Tutors: James & Lea Kendall

James is the Head Bushcraft Instructor at Woodland Classroom, having worked in environmental education & conservation for over 10 years. James’ approach to teaching  steers his students toward fostering a deeper connection with nature through understanding the landscape around us; “Bushcraft skills are an effective way to do this as we learn how to make use of natural materials and live lightly with the land, whilst also connecting with our own ancient past by seeing the land through the eyes of our ancestors.”

Lea is a qualified Counsellor and Mindfulness in a Woodland Setting practitioner. She is a firm believer in the power of nature to be therapeutic for everyone. Lea is an active forager, passionate about how we can use common plants for both food and medicine. She enjoys making her own tinctures and medicinal remedies for treating common ailments.
