Light up the fire, warm up the pans and get ready to become a Campfire Masterchef!
Kids will join us for a whole day in the woods learning to cook up delicious meals and snacks over their own crackling campfire. Children will gain confidence in cooking up a variety of foods outdoors from wild teas, to fresh bread, to scrummy desserts. This day is perfect for any child who loves the outdoor lifestyle and they’ll pick up a whole bunch of skills to use on their next family camping trip. Expect sticky fingers!
Kids will also forage for wild ingredients and create their own camp cooking gadgets from natural materials to grill, fry, bake and boil a range of tasty treats. All this will take place in our bushcraft basecamp against the backdrop of beautiful woodland.
Kids Campfire Cooking usually runs from 10am – 4pm with between 12 – 16 kids. Children craft and cook together to make many tasty dishes as possible. We also allow plenty of scope in the day for those kids that want to play freely in the woods between activities – we know they love it.

All activities are based around our Forest School shelter and surrounding woods. Children will make new friends and learn new skills whilst enjoying a fantastic day out in nature, all led by experienced activity leaders.
Unlike our Wildcraft and Forest School play days, our Kids Campfire Cooking events are aimed at a higher age bracket of 8-14 year olds due to the level of skills required by kids throughout the day. But we have had younger and older children come along. So, if you feel that your child would be suited to the day, then do get in touch with us and we can decide together if this event is a good fit for your child.
Please be aware that Kids Campfire Cooking includes several bushcraft activities including; foraging, fire-lighting, cooking on open fires and sharp knife use. Our staff are trained and experienced at tutoring children through such skills and will cater each activity to suit the child’s age and experience as appropriate. Your child’s safety is our primary concern. Also, please understand that what we cook up on the day changes with the seasons, so if you have any questions, just ask.
Parents don’t usually stay with their children during our Kids Campfire Cooking events. But, if your child has food allergies/intolerances that we should be aware of, or if they have additional needs that you feel would require a parent or guardian to stay with them for the day, we would advise getting in touch with us in advance of making a booking and we’ll see what we can arrange. We aim to be as inclusive as we can.
