Unplug, Rewild, Restore

A one-day woodland wellbeing retreat centred around cold water, warm steam, woodcraft, and deep nature connection.

Experience the invigorating contrast of cold water immersion and the healing heat of a wood-fired sauna in a peaceful woodland setting. This retreat is a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the natural world through the ancient elements of water, fire, wood, and earth.

Alongside sauna rituals, you’ll take part in a guided foraging walk to gather edible plants and natural materials, and then engage in mindful woodcraft, creating traditional sauna whisks, known as vihta.

Step away from the noise and into the quiet beauty of the woods with this nourishing one-day retreat designed to reconnect you with nature, your senses, and a slower rhythm of life. This day is designed to restore balance to body and mind through meaningful connection, quiet reflection, and sensory immersion in the woods.

This retreat is hosted in partnership with our friends at Sauna Cwtch, creators of beautiful, wood-fired mobile saunas, bringing the perfect blend of warmth and wilderness and marrying the elements of wood and water in one unforgettable experience.

Your Day in the Woods

Step into stillness. Breathe in the forest. Let the wild restore you.

Imagine arriving beneath a canopy of trees, the scent of moss and woodsmoke in the air, and a circle of like-minded souls gathering around a warming brew made from wild herbs foraged just steps away. You’ve stepped away from screens, schedules, noise and stepped into something slower, older, and more real.

Your day begins with a gentle walk through the forest, guided by those who know the woods intimately. As you wander, you gather branches, herbs, and edible plants, learning the stories of each leaf and twig, and how to harvest with care and respect. These gathered treasures will become both nourishment for lunch and materials for a timeless craft.

Next, you settle into the rhythm of your hands as you shape your own traditional sauna whisk, known in Scandinavian cultures as a vihta. Using hand tools and natural cordage, you bind branch to branch with quiet attention, feeling the textures of bark and leaf, breathing in their fresh, green scent. There’s no rush. Just the joy of creating something real, rooted in the land.

Then, the water calls. You’re invited to take a cold dip in a clear forest lake, your body waking up in a rush of sensation. Waiting nearby is the wood-fired sauna, billowing gentle steam and the earthy scent of warm timber. Here, you’ll begin a ritual passed down through generations — using your handmade whisk to gently brush the skin, releasing tension, improving circulation, and reconnecting with your body in a primal, healing way.

After the sauna, you gather with others around the campfire, where a seasonal vegetarian lunch awaits, wholesome, foraged, and cooked with care. Wild tea is passed around, steeped in forest-picked herbs. You eat slowly, share stories, and watch the flames dance.

In the afternoon, the pace softens even more. You find a tree hammock, strung between trunks, and let the forest hold you. Whether you nap, daydream, or simply listen to the wind, this is your time to rest.

Later, you’re guided into the quiet of the woods once again for a forest bathing experience, or Shinrin Yoku. As you tune into the subtle sounds, textures, and light around you, a PlantWave device captures the silent signals of nearby trees and translates them into gentle music, creating a living soundscape from the forest itself.

With the day winding down, you return to the creative fire for a final woodcraft session, shaping a small, meaningful object using natural materials like feathers, greenwood, or stone, something you can take with you, imbued with memory.

You end the day with a guided meditation, letting nature’s pace settle into your body like soft moss underfoot. As you rise to leave, there’s no rush — only a quiet sense of calm, clarity, and reconnection. The forest has done its work.

Your invitation is simple: Come as you are. Let the woods hold you. Leave lighter, slower, and more alive.
