Free
guided tree and nature walk in north wales
NATURE I.D. MADE SIMPLE – FOR EVERYONE
Have you ever paused on a walk and wondered, “What tree is this?” Or spotted a curious flower, unusual leaf, or animal track and wished you had someone there to tell you more?
Walking with Trees are free guided walks through beautiful woodland and parkland. Usually taking place on the second Tuesday of the month, we visit a different country park or venue around the Wrexham area to discover beautiful wild places. This month’s walk takes place at the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct. When you book your place we will send you full details of where we are meeting.
Each month we’ll take our time exploring not just the trees, but all the wild wonders that catch our eye along the way. From wildflowers and edible plants to signs of wildlife and the changing seasons, we’ll follow our curiosity and see where nature leads us.
Whether you’re brand new to the natural world or already have a budding interest, this is a relaxed, welcoming way to learn more and connect with the landscape around you.
Led by James “The Tree Guy” Kendall, woodsman and outdoor educator, you’ll gain simple, practical skills for identifying what you see and deepen your appreciation of the hidden lives of plants, animals, and trees alike.
These events are completely FREE to attend, but places are limited, so booking is essential. Book your place by emailing hey@woodlandclassroom.com or clicking on the link on this page.
Come and walk with us, and discover just how much nature has to share when we slow down and look a little closer. Thanks to the Local Places For Nature” Wrexham project for funding these events.

Your Tutor: James Kendall

James is the Head Bushcraft Instructor at Woodland Classroom, having worked in outdoor education & conservation for over 10 years. James’ approach to teaching steers students toward fostering a deeper connection with nature through understanding the landscape around us; “Bushcraft skills are an effective way to do this as we learn how to make use of natural materials and live lightly with the land, whilst also connecting with our own ancient past by seeing the land through the eyes of our ancestors.”

In 2017 James received the Bushcraft Competency Certificate awarded through the Institute for Outdoor Learning after 2 years of teaching experience and practical study. He is also a member of the IOL Bushcraft Professional Practise Group. The group aims to promote best practice in the growing industry of bushcraft activity providers.
