Discover which trees are a bushcrafters best friend

Join us as we countdown our Top Ten trees for bushcraft. Which trees do you think will make the list? Get inspired to try tree-craft projects for yourself and boost your knowledge of our native woodlands.

You will discover which trees make the best cordage, which burn best on the campfire and provide natural tinders, which trees give us foraged food and a whole host of other uses and benefits that these wonderful trees have.

Learn how to identify these trees, where to find them, what many uses they have and how they can be used in both in the field and for your back-garden bushcraft projects.

You will get craft ideas to try yourself, top tips on how to harvest useful materials from trees and also wild food recipes you can cook up and enjoy.

The workshop is aimed at anyone who has an interest in outdoor life, whether you are a wild camper, bushcrafter, environmental educator, you will find lots of tips on how you can use trees in your outdoor life.

A ticket costs just £11 per household. These events are selling out quickly, so grab your place whilst you can 🙂 Everyone has loved these workshops so far and they’ve been really popular.

Your Tutors: Dave Watson & James Kendall

Dave Watson has over 30 years of bushcraft experience. He is the lead tutor at Woodland Survival Crafts. The business was established in 1995 following a 10 year career in outdoor activity centres.

Dave’s passion for ancient survival skills, or ‘bushcraft’ as it has become known, stems from his teenage years when he spent much of his time wandering around Britain in semi-wild places trying to live off the land.

Dave views the subject of bushcraft as an exciting and inspiring tool suitable for everyone, to teach life skills, environmental education, and history as well as being a perfect basis in which to impart sound spiritual lessons.

James Kendall is the Head Bushcraft Instructor at Woodland Classroom, having worked in environmental education & conservation for over 10 years. James’ approach to teaching  steers his students toward fostering a deeper connection with nature through understanding the landscape around us; “Bushcraft skills are an effective way to do this as we learn how to make use of natural materials and live lightly with the land, whilst also connecting with our own ancient past by seeing the land through the eyes of our ancestors.”
