Kickstart your foraging journey & walk the wild food trail.
Did you know there are probably plants growing just metres from your doorstep that most think of as weeds, but can be used to cook up nutritious, delicious and healthy meals? They’re far too good to throw in the compost bin. So, eat your weeds!
You might already know that plants like nettle, dandelion and cleavers are great wild edibles, but there’s a whole host of common weeds that have not yet had the Your Wild Food Year treatment. Prepare to discover the wonders of sowthistle, daisy, honey mushroom, spear thistle, even ground elder! We think you’ll be surprised.
We’re welcoming back two very special guest speakers: Julie Bruton-Seal and Matthew Seal co-authors of the hugely poplar book Hedgerow Medicine. Julie and Matthew are gurus in their field of hedgerow herbalism and their latest book, Eat Your Weeds!, champions the forgotten food plants that are hiding in plain sight. This husband and wife team have two lifetimes’ worth of knowledge to draw upon and they will be sharing this along with mouthwatering weed-filled recipes with you during this workshop.
Our online foraging workshops started in the first lockdown and have continued to be a hit ever since, as people want to learn how to make tasty meals from the wild plants around them. Each month we host online workshops on wild food, foraging, tree identification and more. In this workshop you will learn how to confidently identify, forage and cook with a range of common weeds.
A ticket costs just £11 per household. These events are selling out quickly, so grab your place whilst you can 🙂 Everyone has loved these workshops so far and they’ve been really popular.

THIS MONTH’S SPECIAL GUESTS
We’re very excited to be welcoming two special guest speakers this month…
Julie Bruton-Seal and Matthew Seal, co-authors of Hedgerow Medicine, Wayside Medicine, Kitchen Medicine and their latest book Eat Your Weeds!
Julie is a practising naturopathic herbalist, iridologist and natural healer. She is a Fellow of the Association of Master Herbalists (AMH) and was one of the founding organisers of HerbFest, an annual gathering celebrating healing plants and herbal medicine.
Matthew’s first recorded proper words (according to his mother, who wouldn’t exaggerate on such a matter) were ‘meadowsweet’, uttered on a nature walk in the River Trent marshes when he was nearly three. He grew up in a family of gardeners and botanists and, while not following his kinfolk into professional gardening or horticulture, he has never forgotten this early ‘greening’, and delights in herb walks and botanical rambles. He is a career editor and writer of books, magazines and newspapers, in both the UK and South Africa.
Matthew and Julie work together on their books, undertaking the research, writing, photography, layout and indexing as a team under the Hedgerow Medicine banner. Check out their website here.
