Q: How long is the course?
It depends which tier of the course you enrol into. At Tier 1: Wild Bites the course lasts 12 months, from whichever month you sign up. You can watch the video lectures at your own pace during this time, coupling this with making time to get outdoors and practise your new skills.
At the higher tiers Wild Feast and Wild Banquet you have lifetime access to the course content, so you can take as long as you want to complete it and refer back to it whenever you need to.
Q: Do I have to start with Wild Bites and work through to the Wild Banquet tier?
No, not at all. The different tiers of the course are all taught at the same level. Choose whichever one fits your level of interest or budget. The different tiers (and their prices) simply reflect the amount of content and pier support you get at each tier. You can always upgrade later if you get the foraging bug.
Q: What extras do I get in the Wild Banquet tier of the course?
At the top tier you get our Special Workshop Series which includes; Tree Foraging, Eat Your Weeds, Easy Campfire Cooking and Poisonous Plants Every Forager Should Know. You will also get access to all our bonus videos which cover more wild foods not featured in our monthly workshops. On top of that, you will also be given a free ticket to any of our future wild food live workshops (online). Lastly, you get a whole extra course thrown in The Complete Tree ID Course. More on that below. It’s the full package!
Q: Can I start the course whenever I want?
Yes, the time of year doesn’t matter. Your 12 month course begins when you sign up.
Do I get all 12 months right away ?
Yes, our Jan to Dec modules are available at your finger tips.
Q: Which wild food species are included ?
The courses includes over 70 common edible plants & fungi found in the UK & Ireland. For a full list of the species featured, simply follow this link.
Q: Do the recipes cater for vegetarians & vegans?
Yes. We don’t include any wild game in the 70 wild edibles. Plenty of recipes are already meat-free and although some recipes do include meat, we always suggest a veggie/vegan alternative where possible. Many of the recipes are for accompaniments to meals which you can adapt as you like.
Q: Is my purchase refundable?
We’re confident you will love the course content, so much so that we guarantee it, or your money back. Your enrolment fee is 100% refundable within 30 days of your purchase.
Q: Can I try out the course content before buying?
Yes. You can enrol on our FREE preview version of the course where you will get a taster of the videos, photo galleries and recipes that accompany the month of March, one of the best months of the year to start foraging. You can sign up to that taster course right here.
Q: What is the Forager’s Online Community?
This is a private and safe space where fellow students can share photos, recipes, successes and failures and ask questions of the community, which includes your tutors Lea and James. This works via a free app called Discord. You can access the community on any mobile device or desktop computer.
Q: What’s included in the bonus Tree ID course?
The Complete Tree ID Course: Beginner is your guide to becoming an expert in 15 common UK tree species. You will get access to videos taking you through the key identifying features of each tree in spring, summer, autumn and winter. So, you will be able to identify trees no matter the time of year, even when there are no leaves. You also get cheat sheets, photo galleries and an interactive quiz to test your knowledge. If you want more info on this, just ask.
Q: Is the course content any good?
Well it’s not for us to say. So, I’ll let our students answer this one…
“It has been fascinating to learn about how different plants and fungi have properties that can improve and enhance health…. they have opened my eyes to the possibilities.” Lesley Stevens
“I was amazed how many weeds growing in my garden were not only edible, but tasted great too. All just a stone’s throw from my kitchen. I had no idea!” Helen White
Is This Course For Me If I’m Not in the UK?
All the course videos and materials feature common edible plant and fungi species of Great Britain and Ireland. However, all of these are also found on continental Europe. Latin names are included in all videos and resources so that foreign students can easily match the tree they’re studying with its local common name.
