Penllergare Valley Woods is a community woodland managed by local charity, The Penllergare Trust.
It’s a real success story; a South Wales landscape garden that’s been slumbering under overgrown trees and shrubs for nearly 100 years is being gently woken by local volunteers. It’s a vast site with 12 square miles of woodland and over 7 miles of footpaths.
The steep sided valley of the Afon Llan provided the inspiration for what became one of the most romantic landscapes in Wales. Our Woodland Classroom sits under the trees, complete with log seating and central fireplace. We also have use of the nearby Woodland Centre, an enclosed training room with proper toilets and basic kitchen facility.
Here at Penllergare, we regularly run Holiday Club events for kids, including our popular Wildcraft Adventure days. With so much space to explore, it’s also a great venue for visiting school groups and birthday parties.
If you’re dropping off your loved ones for an event or workshop with us then you can always stay awhile to explore the woodland footpaths and historical gardens, or perhaps visit the on-site coffee shop.
