tree foraging workshop

Discover the joys of foraging wild foods and more from the trees around you.

Adele Nozedar, author of The Tree Forager and James Kendall creator of The Complete Tree ID Course will guide you through the extraordinary uses and mind-blowing possibilities of foraging from trees.

You will learn not only which trees can provide you with wild food but also which trees can provide us with medicine and craft materials. Adele and James will be counting down their top ten trees to forage from, featuring tree species which you can find in the British countryside for yourself. You will be surprised by some of the trees that made the lists.

Foraging is one of the fastest growing nature-related pastimes in the UK. With this workshop you will learn to enjoy finding, harvesting and cooking with wild foods that our native and common trees provide. There’s a lot more than just the humble apple tree out there.

Our online foraging workshops started in the first lockdown and have continued to be a hit ever since, as people want to learn how to make tasty meals from the wild plants around them. Each month we host online workshops with a whole host of nature-based subjects including foraging, tree lore, woodcraft skills and wild medicine.

A ticket costs just £11 per household. These events are selling quickly, so grab your place whilst you can 🙂 Everyone has loved these workshops so far and they’ve been really popular.

Your Tutors: Adele Nozedar & James Kendall

James Kendall is the Head Bushcraft Instructor at Woodland Classroom and creator of The Complete Tree ID Course. James has worked in environmental education & conservation for over 10 years ands has a particular passion for trees and woodlands.

James’ approach to teaching steers his students toward fostering a deeper connection with nature through understanding the landscape around us; “Bushcraft skills are an effective way to do this as we learn how to make use of natural materials and live lightly with the land, whilst also connecting with our own ancient past by seeing the land through the eyes of our ancestors.”

Adele Nozedar is an author, food writer, and forager. Adele runs Brecon Beacons Foraging hosting wild food walks in South Wales. She is the author of several popular books on the subject including, The Tree Forager, The Hedgerow Handbook, Foraging for Kids and The Garden Forager. We’re excited to have Adele co-host this workshop with us, sharing her knowledge, enthusiasm and humour.

“One of the best bits about writing books, for me, is when people ask me to talk about them. I love doing this and try to make my talks as entertaining as possible.”

This book profiles 40 incredible trees from the UK and US – from apple, ash and bay to walnut, willow and yew, gorgeously illustrated with watercolour, pen and ink botanical illustrations. In her humorous, inspiring and warm text, Adele explains how we can forage from our trees, not only for food, but also for home remedies, for ingredients to use in cocktails and ferments, and for materials to make toys, musical instruments and other useful things.
