Spring Equinox Walk (Hawarden Estate)

March 21 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

£5 – £20
spring equinox guided walk in north wales

The Spring Equinox is a special moment in nature’s calendar. It is one of only two times of the year that day and night are of equal length. Join Lea and Kay for a guided walk through the beautiful woodland and grounds of the Hawarden Estate, starting and ending at our campfire circle under the trees. We will be looking at the emerging woodland and hedgerow plants, using field guides to identify unfamiliar species and searching for tracks and signs of wild animals.

Lea and Kay will also share their knowledge of fresh spring plants that can be picked and eaten for a tasty snack, added to a salad, or made into a soothing tea to help cleanse and detoxify the body. So, be sure to bring your foraging basket 🙂

Along the way we will make time for a Sit Spot in the woods for a chance to identify bird language and take closer notice of the changes happening in the woods around us. At the end of the walk we will share some hedgerow teas around the campfire together, enjoying community and celebrating this special time in the countryside year. So, take some quality time out for yourself and join us on this Spring Equinox Walk, a perfect way to welcome and celebrate the return of spring.

This guided walk is open to all ages. An adult ticket costs ÂŁ20, accompanied children aged 5-16 pay just ÂŁ5 each and accompanied children under 5 come free.

The walk is unsuitable for prams. If you have any mobility issues please get in touch with us before making a booking so we can discuss whether this event would be suitable for you.

The Return of Spring

“The Spring Equinox is traditionally known as the first day of Spring. Day and night become equal in both the northern and southern hemispheres. This point of balance in the Earth’s yearly cycle holds many gifts for us to contemplate while walking the land.” Glennie Kindred, author of Letting in the Wild Edges.

After the long dark of winter there is a change in the air and for many people it is their favourite time of year. We feel hope for the warmth and return of the light and sunshine. New growth is sprouting everywhere, birds are thickening their nests, wood anemones carpet the woodland floor, lesser celandine and daffodils bring that burst of yellow to brighten your day.

“Nature gives rise to all of life on the planet, including our own, and connecting with the natural world is an integral part of our happiness and well-being.” Claire Thompson, author of Mindfulness and the Natural World
