John will be leading this live webinar highlighting for you a selection of wild edibles to be found along the coast that are common, identifiable and available along the seashore. You will learn about plants, seaweed and shellfish that you can find and cook tasty dishes with. Crucially, you’ll also learn top tips on staying safe whilst foraging on coastlines so you can forage with confidence.

The workshop is aimed at beginners to coastal foraging.

Enjoy finding, harvesting and cooking with wild foods with the very best the seashore has to offer. With the spring and summer ahead, its the perfect time to begin this fascinating and tasty hobby. Learn what to look for, where to look and what to do with it in the kitchen.

Each month we host online workshops with a whole host of nature-based subjects including foraging, tree lore, woodcraft skills and wild medicine.

Your Tutor: John Wright

James and Lea are taking a back seat this month as we let our very special guest tutor take the reins. Back by popular demand, we’re welcoming probably the most well-known name in foraging; John Wright.

John is the author of no less than four River Cottage Handbooks on Hedgerow, Mushrooms, Seashore and Booze. He is also the author of The Forager’s Calendar, which has been a bible to ourselves in learning about wild food.

Not only does John write for the Guardian, he also has strong connections with River Cottage and has made countless TV and radio appearances.

John hosts his own courses in Dorset through Forager’s Calendar. “I am one of those very lucky people who have managed to turn a hobby (chiefly fungus hunting) into a job. Now I spend my time foraging, and encouraging others to forage through my writing, forays and talks. If you think this sounds at all fun then you are quite right.”

We are proud to be welcoming John to lead this workshop and can’t wait for him to share his expertise with you.
