Just like our beloved Family Bushcraft course, this experience is crafted for adults to accompany their children, fostering a bond while learning together.
Picture a day filled with exploration and discovery, as you venture into the wilderness to uncover the secrets of foraging for wild edibles and mastering the art of campfire cooking. Guided by our experienced instructors, you and your little ones will embark on a journey of culinary exploration, gathering ingredients from nature’s pantry and transforming them into delicious meals over an open flame.
From identifying safe and nutritious wild plants to learning essential campfire cooking techniques, this hands-on course is perfect for families eager to deepen their connection with nature and cultivate valuable outdoor skills. Whether you’re planning your first camping trip or seeking to enrich your repertoire of outdoor skills, this event offers something for everyone.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Park In The Past—with mixed woodland, wetland, and open meadows—this event promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of nature. With 120 acres of untamed wilderness to explore, you’ll have ample opportunity to connect with the natural world and instil a love of outdoor exploration in the hearts of your children, along with plenty of hearty campfire grub too.

Your Tutors: James & Lea Kendall
James is the Head Bushcraft Instructor at Woodland Classroom, having worked in environmental education & conservation for over 10 years. James’ approach to teaching steers his students toward fostering a deeper connection with nature through understanding the landscape around us; “Bushcraft skills are an effective way to do this as we learn how to make use of natural materials and live lightly with the land, whilst also connecting with our own ancient past by seeing the land through the eyes of our ancestors.”
Lea is a qualified Counsellor and Mindfulness in a Woodland Setting practitioner. She is a firm believer in the power of nature to be therapeutic for everyone. Lea is an active forager, passionate about how we can use common plants for both food and medicine. She enjoys making her own tinctures and medicinal remedies for treating common ailments.

The course costs £85 for up to 2 adults and 2 children. Additional children (aged 6 and up) can join you for an extra £10 each. Activities are suitable for children aged 6 years and over. Younger children are welcome to join us at no extra charge. You can read our Event Terms & Conditions here.
