Winter in the Woods (Wrexham)

December 16, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

winter forest school in wales

We’ve teamed up with the National Trust at Erddig to give parents a chance to get some shopping & wrapping done while the kids are away having fun. It’s the last weekend before Christmas and they’re going to need somewhere to release all that pent up excitement. So, they could join us for this special festive themed day of activities in the wintery woods of the Erddig estate, open to children aged 3-12 years.

There will be outdoor games, woodland crafts to take home and a blazing campfire with festive goodies for all, including hot chocolate and mince pies. We will also be singing a few seasonal songs around the fire. Places are limited, so book early to avoid missing out.

UPDATE: Following lots of requests from parents, adults with children under 6 can now join us on either day too. Activites won’t be suitable for children aged under 3, but adults are welcome to bring their tiny tot along for the day at no extra charge. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.

To get your Tickets – scroll to the bottom of this page.

Get in touch if you’d like to know more. Advance booking is essential as this event filled up quickly last year. Phone James, 07876 794098 or email us at [email protected]

Tickets are £30 per child (aged 3 – 12) and £27.50 for each additional sibling (aged 6 – 12). For parents bringing more than 1 child under 6, the 2nd child is half price (just £15). The parent pays nothing for themselves 🙂

Just drop us a line if you’d like to know more.

Activities are based around our forest school camp circle, complete with shelter and use of the Trust’s buildings should we need it.

Parents don’t stay with their children during this event – but there’s plenty to see at Erddig if you want to make a day of it. Our Forest School activity days are all supervised by trained and experienced staff… that’s us. If your child has special needs that you feel would require a parent or guardian to stay with them for the day though, we would advise getting in touch with us in advance of making a booking and we’ll see what we can arrange. We like to be as inclusive as we can.

About the Venue

Erddig lies right on the doorstep of Wrexham town, easily accessible off the A483. We will be hosting the evening in Forest Wood, where our forest school camp circle is hidden under the trees. You can find out more about Forest Wood by following THIS LINK.

A note about winter weather… if we do get heavy rain on day of the event then we will move the basecamp location from Forest Wood to Felin Puleston Outdoor Centre, which is also on the Erddig estate. Don’t worry, your kids will still be playing outside, but this venue gives us a bit more cover so that we can run the day effectively and safely if the winter is doing it’s worst. In the event of high winds it is National Trust policy for the whole site to be closed ot the public, in which case the event would have to be cancelled. In the event of us cancelling, customers will of course get a full refund.
